Another stop in the Mediterranean, and we arrive at the birthplace of the modern Olympics, Olympia, Greece. This is a really interesting site to visit, and the museum of all the artifacts found, is fascinating.
As for structures. nearly everything has been destroyed by earthquakes or vandals over the years, but it is still fascinating to see the spots were they once stood. You can easily spend the better part of the day walking around, reading the plaques, and visiting the museum.
Even though there is nothing left of the Olympic Stadium, but a big dirt patch and some grassy hills, it still is awe inspiring to walk through the entrance to the stadium and imagine those that passed through it over the years.
