If you head inland from Big Sur, you will find yourself in redwood country, and here, you will find Yosemite National Park. This park can be very busy on weekends, so plan your visit accordingly. I personally like the spring or fall, as you will encounter more colors and the crowds tend to be a little less.
There are various key sites to see within the park, but one to plan for either early or later in the day, is Glacier Point, where you can look down over the entire valley. Just be aware that parking is limited, so be patient, the view is worth it. The photo above is from the tunnel area, another must see spot in the park.
